Programs and events in 2017:

 

January

  • We presented a screening of the latest 3-D movie trailers

  • 3-D SPACE assisted with content and judging in the 3-D theater at the Stereoscopic Displays and Applications conference in San Francisco

  • We provided content for the Advanced Imaging Society's annual awards gala

 

February​

  • 3-D SPACE hosted it's quarterly 3-DIY OPEN SCREEN, screening a number of stereoscopic independent short films and works in progress.

 

March

  • We screened 3-D photos and exhibited lenticular 3-D and holographic art prints during ArtNight Pasadena, at the Armory Center for the Arts in Pasadena, CA

  • To celebrate the release on Blu-Ray from Kino Classics, 3-D SPACE co-presented a special public 3-D screening of the feature motion picture SEPTEMBER STORM (1960), which was saved and restored by 3-D SPACE and the 3-D Film Archive through your support of our 2016 Kickstarter campaign

 

April

  • The MONSTERPALOOZA convention in Pasadena, CA included a pop-up 3-D SPACE Museum exhibit and screening lounge.

  • We presented a special 3-D family screening of the 2015 feature animated film THE LITTLE PRINCE, which had been produced in 3-D but only released in the USA in 2-D.

 

May

  • We worked with Suzanne Lloyd and the Harold Lloyd Estate to present a special program of Harold Lloyd's 3-D photography at the Walt Disney Animation Studio

  • 3-D SPACE curated the 3-D Village and exhibit an interactive 3-D educational experience at the Bay Area Maker Faire in San Mateo, CA

  • 3-D SPACE will hosted its quarterly 3-DIY OPEN SCREEN, screening a number of stereoscopic independent short films and works in progress.

 

June

  • On Father's Day, we presented a free 3-D screening of the German 3-D family movie, WICKIE ON A GREAT VOYAGE.

 

August

  • 3-D SPACE curated special programming at the National Stereoscopic Association's annual 3D-Con in Irvine, CA. Our shows included the Best of the LA 3-D Movie Festival; a retrospective of works by 3-D filmmaker Robert Bloomberg; the Orchid Macro-photography of James Comstock; a live stereoscopic visual performance by interactive artist J-Walt; Captured Aural Phantasy Theater's 3-D Comic Book Show

  • 3-D SPACE created a mini-museum of 3-D artifacts for 3D-Con, exhibiting vintage and modern stereo images, viewers and cameras, holograms, lenticulars, and VR/AR.

  • We participated in a panel discussion at 3D-Con on the history and current state of virtual reality

  • 3-D SPACE curated a mini-museum exhibit and provided 3-D services to the London Stereoscopic Company, Ltd. for an event at Walt Disney Studios to launch Dr. Brian May's new book, QUEEN IN 3-D. 

  • At 3D-Con, we presented an outdoor screening of SEPTEMBER STORM

  • We co-presented a special program on the history of the stereoscope with stereo historian Denis Pellerin at the Walt Disney Animation Studio

  • 3-D SPACE hosted it's quarterly 3-DIY OPEN SCREEN, screening a number of stereoscopic independent short films and works in progress.

September

  • We presented the LA premiere screening of the 3-D documentary CANINE SOLDIERS and a Q&A with producer/director Nancy Schiesari

October

  • 3-D SPACE teamed up once again with the Heritage Square Museum to present an outdoor 3-D Halloween movie. This year we showed the 1953 classic IT CAME FROM OUTER SPACE, and the movie was introduced by actress Kathleen Hughes.

  • We also presented an exhibition of antique Victorian Diableries at the Heritage Square Museum's annual Mourning Tours event.
  • We screened a Russian 3-D horror film at the Downtown Independent

November

  • 3-D SPACE was invited to give a special presentation at the 3D Korea International Film Festival in Seoul, and we were honored to receive the festival's Technical Contribution Award

  • We set up a 3-D theater at Loscon, the Los Angeles Science Fiction convention, for a presentation of Chris Casady's behind-the-scenes 3-D photos from the 1976 production of Star Wars at Industrial Light and Magic; and we presented a screening of IT CAME FROM OUTER SPACE followed by a lively discussion about 1950s 3-D movies

  • 3-D SPACE was a guest presenter at the monthly meeting of the Orange County Science Fiction Club

 

December

  • 3-D SPACE participated in the Downtown Los Angeles Mini Maker Faire at the LA Public Library, exhibiting 3-D cameras and projection

  • We assisted Chris Casady in presenting his behind-the-scenes 3-D photos from Star Wars at the Walt Disney Animation Studio
